HISTORY OF THE VETERANS COMMISSION OF HARFORD COUNTY

The Harford County Commission on Veterans' Affairs was created by Legislation #93-69 and confirmed by the Harford County Executive on October 27, 1993.  The duties of this Commission are:

  1. To establish a forum for all Harford County Veterans of military services, without regard to race, creed, gender, organizational affiliation, political or economic status.

  2. To maintain communications with County and local governments, businesses, academic institutions and veterans of the County.

  3. To provide assistance and guidance to veterans, businesses and academic institutions as to veteran entitlements.

  4. To maintain the memories of the sacrifices made by this Country and its military in order to maintain the freedoms enjoyed by the masses of our great Nation.

The Veterans' Commission meets monthly at 7:30 PM on the 4th Wednesday of the Month at the County Office Building, 220 Main Street, Bel Air, Maryland.  Any veteran or interested citizen is welcomed to attend these meetings as a guest or observer.

 

This Harford County Veteran Resource Guide is published as a community service as a source for locating services that address the needs and interests of the veterans of Harford County.

 

Membership of the commission consist of veterans of military services.  The term of each member is coterminous with that of the County Executive.  The County Council shall appoint one member.

 

Commission members shall be appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the Council.
